I'm not a fan.

The idea of eight div 2 teams and that the div 1 teams should play each other twice doesn't seem very good. We know from experience that the longer a tournament lasts, the bigger chance there is for teams folding and mass forfeits. Not to mention the impending Christmas holidays. Unless we play two matches a week, which hasn't worked in the past either, the last few matches and the final will be played during Christmas or even in 2010. That just won't work out well at all. Two six team divisions will finish just in time for Christmas, with one match played each week.

I'm guessing the idea is prevent the mid teams from getting destroyed by the top teams. Unfortunately, that isn't true in this case. Anyone who's been paying attention to our (9L) PCWs will know that we are absolutely terrible right now, and are getting destroyed by the other three teams currently in div 1. The best div 2 teams should be able to compete with us, and perhaps also the other three div 1 teams.

I don't see any real reason why two div 2 teams can't be promoted to div 1. Two divisions of six, with a gradual skill curve from the best team to the worst team makes perfect sense.

I personnaly see Keen Edge as a Div 1 team. Not about their skills but about their experiences.

That was my personnal and useless comment.

By the way I totally agree with Bergy idea, but that don't answer to the the Div1 problem :/

-work out who the best 2 teams are in div 2

-add them to div 1

Yeah, I agree with sublime, but instead of pcws (people tend to fuck around or w.e.), just do a 1 week preseason getting all the teams to play each other. Would help.

Assuming a perfect schedule, the final would likely be played on the 20th of December. That's several days after I've gone for Christmas holidays with no regular computer access, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

mu's Swiss system sounds interesting, if a bit strange.

it basically just matches you up to your most equal opponent at that point in the league and becomes more accurate over time.

Another option is scrapping skill separated divisions entirely.

Two divisions, six teams in each. Half of div 1 and div 2 in each, with the anticipated top two seeded to separate divs. At the end of the league, the top team in each div plays each other in a tournament final, and the second placed teams play each other in a bronze final.

phil you nutjob.

last option sux it is very unlikely to get any surprises if we make 2 divs adding 2 "div1" teams to each. It is more interesting to play against better teams since matches are less predictable. Div1 teams are div1 for reason, they are more active and If we ignore 1game\week and give freedom to play em anytime (with deadlines of course) it should be no problem. Example play week2 game in week1 orslt.

What makes a team div 1? If it's skill right now, we certainly don't belong there. (although we want to be, but that's a different matter entirely)

Experience shows that the more freedom you give, the more delays you have. Even just one team lagging behind will delay the entire league. Not to mention you're forgetting about div 2. I see no reason why they would want to play during, or a couple of days before, Christmas any more than me.

Regardless of the system chosen, it just makes more sense to have two six team divisions than one four team and one eight team division.

Hello

We had an ENSL-teams meeting today, dicussing this very topic. We came up with a solution that most teams that we asked (about all) liked and looks forward to. I will try to give you a clear idea on how this seasons ENSL leage will play out.

Basicly, we have opted for one division. With that being said, we are dividing the division into two groups.

In each group, we will have six (6) teams.

The first and second teams in each group will play semis and finals for the ENSL 13 Champions title.

The third and fourth teams in each group will also play semis and finals and win the second title [to be named, div2 equivalent].

This way, "div2" teams will not have to fear playing the "div1" teams, since they are not fighting for the same title. Also, four out of six teams will get to play semis from each group, wich means there will be alot of fighting between all teams until the end, and taking a point from a "div1" team could mean alot.

That seems like a good solution to me. My only quibble with it is that it shortens the season with just one week from the previous plan. You're going to have to be extremely strict with the deadlines to prevent the season from extending into the holidays.

Good job getting on top of this so fast!

Edit: If the season starts on monday, the final will still probably be played on the 20th of December, and that's only if there are no delays at all. That's just as bad as the previous plan.

it doesn't in fact becouse we are not gonna play games this weekend... (fixing rules, not much time to schedule, last fixes with plugin) gives us 5 weeks + 2 weeks for semi & finals. We can hurry things up trying play semis & finals in one week.

Previus divs i was prepering with jiriki, without knowledge of your scores Fana, my bad.

Semis and finals in one week would fix it, yeah. Providing you are very strict with the deadlines, of course.

No worries about that. Can't even remember the last time someone overrated me. Even with the four team div 1 plan, we'd still want to be in div 1 even if we got stomped.

I really can't emphasize this enough: The final being played 13th-20th of December at the earliest could be disastrous.
