Hi,

I was just playing some pcw with duplex and got some interesting impressions about the way they communicated.

I want to share it with you, maybe some will find this interesting.

General Gaming Advice
Before the game starts, define pressure and capper team.

If the comm gives you an order, to go to a location, do it over and over again, until you receive a new order.

If you and someone else got the order to go to this location, group up before you go. It won't help if you are going in one after another. 1 marine has no chance vs. 2 decent skulks.

The game is about positioning and res. Its not about the stats.

General Communication Rules
The Commander should always know, where he sends which teammate (Sounds hard, but its just a matter of practice).

As a comm, giving orders to specific players like "NAME go to LOCATION", creates less confusion. As a field-player, don't forget whether you are on the pressure or capper team. The comm might just say "Pressure team go LOCATION and take down BUILDING". In this case, it is just faster than calling all three pressure team member names.

Keep the communication to a mimimum - If too many speak, the v-chat is blocked and you can't hear nor receive important orders from the comm.

Keep your voice low - screaming wont help. Important information like "They go for a rush" should be a bit louder and maybe repeated if too many speak, but when all stick to keeping communication to a minimum, then it should be fine.

Useful Information
Still, it is important to keep up a good information flow. Here are some suggestions for good information, that help the team.

General rule of thumb: tell what you see.
"Going LIFEFORM"
"RT Down in LOCATION"
"2 marines in LOCATION, 1 with SG/GL"
"NAME#1, NAME#2, lets group up at LOCATION"
"LIFEFORM low - chase him"
"GO" or some other signal words, for ambushing, etc.

NOT Useful Information
This information may be important to the individual at that time, but it just blocks the v-chat.
"I am sitting here and no one is coming. Comm? Do you want me to go and help the others, or is it better to stay here? I am just wondering, because no one is coming."
"How did he do that? I was behind the f****** edge when he got me! Do they have some cruise missile pistol upgrade!?"

Thanks for reading

I guess push-to-talk is key (HEH).

This whole communication thing is the hardest part for us (at HBZ) to improve at. We constantly have unnecessary noise in our v-chat, resulting in unheard calls and hence repetitive calls from different players, creating even more noise.

We've been discussing this a lot, and it feels like its not getting any better.

There is always this need to point out, that the one who killed you, is a fucking cock eating anus wart.
The only idea I have left would be shock collars or something. Idk man, its super frustrating :/.

@Bicsum: Try some silent games, where no one is allowed to talk. Everyone will focus and maybe pay attention to the game as whole. Also trains hivemind. Repeat for better results and use it as example that you can shut up in normal game.
