Season 16, Updates and More!

Update

Season 16 begins!

Season 16 has officially begun! Matches are up in the system, so it’s time to start scheduling matches with your opponents. Make sure to schedule one match per week, as we want this season to be concise. Matches in the group stage may be delayed by 1 week if both teams agree, excluding the final week in the season. We hope to see some awesome matches soon!

Game Integrity Violation in the Grand Open Tournament

As most of you now know, we have concluded that one player, April, has cheated in the Grand Open Tournament beyond a reasonable doubt. The evidence against April mostly came from the VOD he submitted. We realize that this should have been caught sooner, and for future tournaments we will be reviewing how the initial VOD analyses are conducted to ensure that players such as this are caught in a timely manner.

As a result, April has been stripped of all badges and rewards, and every team which has won a tournament and featured April in the lineup that played has been stricken from the Hall of Fame. The forum thread to discuss this topic can be found here.

Comp Mod Feedback

The Comp Mod team is hard at work delivering new releases of the NSL Comp Mod, so if you have any feedback regarding these changes (or any changes you’d like to see), please let them know the #balance-discussion channel on our Discord, or make a post on the forums! Feedback is greatly appreciated and will help to make competitive NS2 more fun and balanced.

We would also like to welcome Katzenfleisch to the Comp Mod Team as another programmer! With Katz and Golden as developers, progress should maintain a steady pace.

Future Events, Rate Testing and Other Info

Future Events

We would like to ask for your feedback on future events you’d like to see. So far, we have had positive feedback on hosting more Draft Tournaments and even a Skulks with Shotguns tournament. If you have any other ideas or comments, please let us know on our Discord!

Rate Testing

It’s not quite ready yet, but we will be performing rate testing again in the near future! Steelcap is still hard at work fixing the engine to allow for higher rates, with the goal of 100+ tick being possible in the future. This testing will be much more structured than last time however—we will correctly log info on all servers running these tests, and will ask players who decide to try it out to record themselves, so to provide evidence if any glitches do occur.

More info will be revealed very soon!

Other Info

We have some new London servers ran by eLbot on some great hardware, please try them out if you haven’t yet!

Lastly, we are still in need of additional referees and casters for the upcoming matches and events, so if you are interested, please reach out to DCDarkling, infamous or ritual on Discord!
