Week 5 update!

Information

We are now over the christmas break, hope you all had a good christmas and a great newyears.

This means more matches are coming! This week is the last week of group play, and next week will be a cleanup week for forfeited games, and then were ready for the semifinals in week 7 of season 1!

We have added "*.model" to the consistency check as it was missing. Please check it out in the Season Rules
We also put up the poll for removal of close spawns like we announced in the christmas post, please go back and look at that and add to the discussion in the custom map thread if you feel something is left out. Also, make sure to put your vote in the poll down to the right on the site.

I was asked to clarify what the vote is about in this newspost, so here I go:

Due to random spawns being put into maps designed for static spawns(summit and tram), it results in teams spawning at tech points close to eachother, which causes a list of problems like easy access to eachothers bases. So, easy eggcamp, easy skulkrush, and it makes timing pushes(unlocking a specific tech and rushing base) way too easy to perform due to the short walking distance. Close spawns also gives aliens a "free" second hive location on the opposite side of the map of the marines spawn, that makes it much harder for marines to prevent aliens from getting tier 2 abilities, as the walking distance to the second hive is longer than to the alien mainhive. The downside to removing close spawns is the first 10 seconds of "where did the enemy team spawn?" would be gone(on summit at least).

If the majority don't like close spawns we will adress the maps like this:

summit: static spawns, marines in Sub Access, aliens in Atrium (what the map was originally designed for)

tram: static marine spawn in Shipping, aliens randomly in Warehouse or Server Room. (was designed for shipping vs warehouse, but we feel that server room have enough distance to shipping to still be viable for a spawn, that way the randomness is not completely lost on tram)

veil: stays as it is, as it doesn't have close spawns.

This might also affect other maps in the future, depending on how the spawns are.
