NSL Invitational #1 Qualifiers end
Information
Invitational cup
The Qualifiers have ended. Congratulations to Goðar, Inversion, Be BAGUETTE myfriend, Breakfast Klub. Precaching, Damage Networks, vetus and Team Cocorico who are proceeding to the Invitational Cup next weekend, together with the top teams from season 1. The groups, times and matches should be coming out to all of you very soon. Expect the times to be fairly similar to this weekend, except starting 2 hours earlier, 18-23~CET match starting times. Hope you have had a great weekend playing the Qualifiers!
Season 2
There are currently 42 teams signed up for the european leage, 26 teams signed up for the american league and 7 teams signed up for the australian league. Also translates into 3 EU divisions, 2 NA divisions and 1 AU division with the division size bump to 16 teams. What we have now is a total of 75 teams, can we surpass the season 1 signups? That was 92 when the signup deadline hit, but a few teams pulled out, so the real number of teams playing was about 85 when the season began. Anyway, tell every team you come across about the season to help us, and yourself to make season 2 bigger and better than season 1. There might also be prizes on the line for season 2, in one one way or another. Signup deadline is as announced at the 1st of March, which is this coming friday!
3 of the maps from the Custom map cup, ns2_triad, ns2_icarus and ns2_jambi all currently have majority on "yes" votes for season 2 in this thread. The mappers of each map are working on fixes for them, but we suggest you get to learn these 3 maps for season 2 unless something major happens to the vote before 1st of March. Feel free to post feedback for the maps in the thread as well as votes. Things that could use a change and make the maps more balanced for both races. We will also put up a poll about ns2_descent as soon as the patch is released.
Also, as mentioned in the previous post some new teams have been refused seeding matches. So from now on previous league teams signed for the next season will get a point punishment when the season begins. IF they refuse to play seeding matches, until they play at least 2 seeding matches. Look at the Season rules for this update, now be nice to new teams and let them play their seeding matches. Alot of new teams are missing to play these seeding matches, and at the moment(there might be more new teams signing up during the week) these teams are:
Europe:
Northernlights, Spikes & Bites, Bites & Spikes, Anatolian Tigers, 8to6, Bounded, Unchain the Wolves, Echollon, Weyland-Yutani, tisu, Lerk Zeppelin, Team Cocorico, skeid, RadicaL2, @=]::::BLADE::::>, Quoth, Never Rules, Tipsy Marines
North America:
CiB, flow, aPx, King Kahuna Games, Next Level Gaming, VexX, AtroX, xoverzero, National Gamers, Flying Chipmunks, uNaware, dysgorge, The Caturday Killers, nuReign.K, Silvermoon, Man Up,
Australia:
Nostromo 2, [ ]
We recommend playing the seeding matches so every division is as fair as possible for all teams participating. If you don't play any seeding match as a new team, you will get the lowest seed of your region. Remember you must play teams from your own region that participated in season 1. Check the season 1 teams in NS2 History (scroll to the buttom). Find out which of the teams are active by looking at the Season 2 Signups. Report match results, and any teams refusing to play by sending a PM to swalk on the site. These matches MUST be played and reported before 1st of March!
Every single team signed up for Season 2 must also have at least 6 players registred on their teams, or they will get removed from the season on friday!

Nice work, swalk! This weekend seemed very successful on the whole, although it was a shame that there were so many forfeit games. For future cups like this I think it needs to be made clear to teams before they sign up what the format will be as a lot of teams seem to have been unprepared for the number and timing of games in this competition and last week in the custom map cup.

It wasn't all me! Huge thanks should go to some of our new admins and referees who really put the work in there! A little more specificly: Zefram, Fr33K1LL, Reekah, Kaneh, Kinley and Maxamus, might be more but that's the ones I see in our referee documents.
Yes, we noticed that as well and we will make sure to announce that when we put up any signups in the future.
I'm happy to tell you that only about 6 teams out of 32 didn't show up at all for the qualifiers. That is not a bad number at all, considering these circumstances. But there is always room for improvement!

Well done EVERYONE! Thanks a lot!

20% of teams didn't show up and that's "only"?

To be fair vartija, the real number is closer to 15% than 20%. I just calculated it and it is 16,66% of the teams. Considering we didn't put up the amount of games that were going to be played during the weekend on the signups, this is not much. Could have been 50% or more considering this. So yes, only 16% of the teams not showing up is a good number under these circumstances.

GJ rounding 1/5 to 0,82/5. Looks a lot better. But my respects for bothering to arrange a tourney where you expect 50% forfeit rate. Also your grammar has improved a lot since we last talked. (no sarcasm here)

No one expected 50% forfeits. I said it COULD have happened with the mistake we did about not announcing the match times early enough. You seem to misinterpret what I tell you. And mostly I just type stuff in, I rarely sit and check any posts I make for gramma mistakes because I simply don't care as long as it is fairly readable.

vartija you are just being nasty. If you think something could have been done better just say what you think the problem was and ideally make a suggestion for improvement. Sarcastically pointing out shortcomings does not help in the slightest.

Oh no. They keep multiplying. Sometimes I purposely misinterpret some stuff, because they can be interpreted that way (and some people do if you'r not clear). Also I don't like people trying to round numbers for their way. That's simple blasphemy. And don't worry. I will point out if I see some larger scale fuck ups. (like winter break. swalk knows this now since even his team died then.)

I think your approach is counter-productive and suggest you consider trying to be polite and constructive in your criticism if you are interested in being a positive influence on this game and community.

Yes it must be fun to be young and naive.

I must be naive, I don't understand why people find it so hard to be civil to one another. As for young, unless you entered a false DoB on here, we are the same age.

I see we are checking each other's profiles now OH MY... you could be my younger brother and wait no. Since you seem like really confused I'm going to make a special exception and explain this to you. 1) It's saying young and naive. 2) It refers to you'r nick. 3) I'm not likely talking about your actual age but mental age. 4) You sound like a new to the internet and the community. But I like more abstract text so I only wrote that one line. You're welcome.

A little too abstract for someone of my mental age perhaps. I just want to get along, but maybe I should try being patronising, unwelcoming and cynical instead.

Vartija calm down :) You r right about winter break thing. If you behave aggressive, you will be unjust at the end.
I started a thread about my suggestions for the next contests ... http://www.ensl.org/topics/664

vartija, duplex didn't suffer from the winter break at all. Don't know where you got that from. But I know other teams did, especially in the NA and AU divisions.
