I think that must be a new rule, to make matches more fair. For example Atrium. Aliens(team1) start in atrium, marines(team2) start in sub. Aliens win. Then team switch sides, and Marines(team1) start in Atrium again, which is the worst spawn on that map imo. Same with tram north/south spawns.

My point is if t1 spawns in atrium as alines, next round t2 should spawn in atrium as aliens as well.
I think admins can force spawns now with this:

sv_spawnteams , command to force teams to certain spawns on a map.

I even don't know why this system isn't installed yet. I mean, to be as fair as we can & should, it seems more than legit to have both teams spawning at the same tech points when they play Aliens & when they play Marines. As Tachi just mentioned, if Team 1 (as Marines) started Warehouse on Tram, Team 2 ought to start Warehouse as well + same way as Aliens.

About this new command added with b267, i'm not so sure how far it can really work for us. Referees must be able to use it on every NSL modded servers & not only admins servers. Otherwise, it would be very boring to ask for an admin for every official matches.

If there's another occasion of "Tram marines south" and we need to "random" it, i'm going to kill someone.

Don't worry, it won't happen again. Except if an evil Referee decides to do it just for you. :p

What about maps like veil, first round marines need to spend medpack or use other methods to find out the spawn. When sides switch, it's no longer necessary. It could work for some maps, but not all or other measures need to be in place.

This could perhaps be a good time to consider removing the possibility of doing this then. It is a rather cheeky function that hardly was intended originally.

Fixed spawns per map would be a nice addition to the comp games. You could practice strats for spawn specific weeks and each side would have the same advantages/disadvantages.

It would also give a different flavor to each map per week and you could use 1 map at least twice per season, since we have such a limited selection. I would like to see this instead of throwing in new maps that dont belong yet.

Let's take out as much "random" as we can in competitive games. (within reason)

I strongly agree that the spawns should be announced with the maps for each week. We already accept that the spawns aren't all equal, which is why teams that re have to get the same spawns when the game is reset. Random spawns don't add anything to the game, as marines can find out where aliens are with no more than 2 medpacks and aliens always know where marines start except sometimes on Tram. They just make it potentially unfair, with some spawns being more isolated or more susceptible to base rushes.

If spawns were fixed and announced ahead of time, I think we could see some interesting strategies throughout the season that rely on them.

I prefer random spawns but if the system works reliable and it is easy to set up I am not against it.
Pls dont let us random again and wait out.

I would like to see spawns announced for each week in S5. I agree with set spawns and less random bullshit, strategies could be made. It's annoying to reset games to get the right spawns, so maybe dragon can code something like say "rdy shipping" rdy call for marines and it would set the spawns for the game.

sv_spawnteams. but players (Referees or Shoutcasters) should be admin on the said servers.
